penguins_rockhopper01_sm.jpg: Rockhopper penguin
Range: Argentina, Australia, Chile, Falkland Islands, French Southern Territories, Heard Island and McDonald Island, New Zealand, St. Helena, South Africa
Habitat: open sea, coastline and rocky shores
Conservation Status: Threatened
Scientific Name: Eudyptes chrysocome

As the name suggests, this little penguin can leap off the ledges and cliffs of the rocky habitat where it nests. It can also survive the battering it gets when it launches itself out of high waves onto rocky coastlines.
