This little beetle is known to children from nursery rhymes, and known to farmers as a hero. There are a number of different kinds of ladybug beetles. This particular one is known as the "nine-spotted ladybug." Another species saved the California citrus tree crop in 1888, when the scale insect almost wiped out the entire crop. Give those ladybugs a medal!
