The calm nature and attractive colors of this large spider make it popular with pet owners. In fact, this is among the most commonly imported type of tarantula today. Some Chilean rose hair tarantulas have red hairs all over their body, while others have a tan body with pink "hairs." Like all New World tarantula species, these spiders can flick their hairs off their abdomens, causing an irritating reaction in an attacker.
