It’s not hard to guess how this lizard got its name, especially when it puts on a threat display. That's when it expands its body, accentuating the spines that cover it. The pouch under the animal’s throat also puffs out, giving it the appearance of a “beard.” When the dragon opens its mouth wide, it exposes the bright yellow color inside -- all in all, an unappetizing meal for any predator!
