This is one of the largest geckos, reaching a body length of up to 9.5 inches. It spends all of its time in the treetops. Males usually stay on the trunk and lower branches of trees, while the females generally remain in the higher forest canopy. These lizards live primarily in the mountainous portion of southern New Caledonia. They also occur throughout the east coast of the island.
