Range: New Guinea (island in southeastern Asia)
Habitat: Tropical forests
Conservation Status: Not listed by IUCN
Scientific Name: Tribolonotus gracilis

This lizard is easy to identify:  it has spiny body scales, six bony projections on the back of the head, and an orange ring around each eye. Little is known about its habits in the wild, other than an interesting defensive behavior. When alarmed, it makes a high-pitched yelping noise and may expel waste matter from its intestines. This combination is enough to startle any predator!
