Solomon Island Prehensile-tailed Skink
| Geographical Range | Solomon Islands (in the South Pacific) |
|---|---|
| Habitat | Tropical forests |
| Scientific Name | Corucia zebrata |
| Conservation Status | Not listed by IUCN |
With a prehensile (grasping) tail to help it move among the branches, this large lizard is well suited for its tropical forest habitat. Unfortunately, the Solomons are rapidly being deforested for lumber and agriculture. Destruction of habitat and depletion by the pet trade have greatly reduced this animal's chances for survival.
