Endocrine Lab Services
As a perfect solution for zoos without labs of their own, or to augment your existing capabilities, the Saint Louis Zoo offers other zoos and conservation organizations access to our lab services at highly competitive pricing. Before sending samples, please E-mail Dr. Corinne Kozlowski to confirm the availability of assays specific to your needs and to determine procedures and pricing. Pet owners can find local veterinarians by checking in your local phone pages, or by searching online using resources such as Veterinarians Directory or Google.
Serum assays have already been validated for elephant and rhinoceros, among others, while fecal assays have been validated for more than two dozen species, including hoofstock, carnivores and primates. To view a full list of validated assays, Click Here.
Our facilities include a 17,000 square foot hospital/research building, gamma counter and spectrophotometric plate reader, centrifuges, ultra-low freezers and more. Lab Staff have combined experience of over 60 years.
We are currently offering the following radioimmunoassays:
- Elephant Luteinizing Hormone
- Canine Relaxin
Other assays are available upon request. Please inquire and we will try to meet your needs.
Serum or Plasma Assays:
- $13 ($11 discounted rate for batches of 20 or more)
- $150 Species Validation (one time charge)
Fecal or Urine Assays:
- $16 ($14 discounted rate for batches of 20 or more)
- $200 Species Validation (one time charge)
Price includes analysis of all samples in duplicate, and assay of dilutions if required. Assays are extensively tested for precision and reproducibility. Species validation includes linearity, recovery, and binding studies.
