Because it's not always possible for school groups to visit the Zoo for one of our on-grounds education programs, we're happy to come to you.

What Size Groups Can Be Accommodated?

Our minimum group size is 10, with a maximum group size of 30 (children and adults). For groups of larger than 30, we do offer larger assembly programs. For our programs for children with special needs, our minimum group size is eight, with a maximum of 16.

For childcare facilities, we do require that adult/child ratios be maintained at all times during the program(s). See Missouri Code of State Regulations 19 CSR 30-62.112 Staff/Child Ratios or Illinois Administrative Code Licensing Standards for Day Care Centers Section 407.190 Grouping and Staffing.

How Far Will We Travel?

We offer a wide range of outreach programs for school groups within the Zoo-Museum District and within a 30-mile radius of the Zoo.

Outreach Programs

Our school outreach programs are aligned to the Missouri Grade Level Expectations and cover a variety of life science themes. Each program is designed to be appropriate for the age group receiving the program.

Class Length and Pricing

30 Minute Presentations
Fee: $90 (ZMD $75)
Please note: A minimum of two classes must be scheduled.

45 Minute Presentations
Fee: $190 for the first program, $140 for a second program scheduled at the same site on the same day.
ZMD: $150 for the first program, $110 for a second program at the same site on the same day.

Custom-Designed Programs

Assemblies

Fee: $525 (ZMD $450)

Booth Programs

Does your school hold a science night? Are you having a community event and would like the Zoo to attend? We can set up a booth with crafts, biofacts and other interesting materials. These programs are custom-designed to meet your needs.
Fee: $190 (ZMD $150) for the first hour, $70 for each additional half hour.
