After breakfast at Lakeside Cafe, we will have a swinging good time at both the Primate House and Jungle of the Apes. Joe will interpret the ever changing social dynamics and behavior of primates as well as the Zoo's conservation efforts.

River's Edge Breakfast TourCatch the latest scoop on our elephants with Gondal, the Asian Ranger who oversees our herd. Animal Nutrition Center Breakfast TourAfter a hot breakfast at Lakeside Café', we will visit the new Orthwein Animal Nutrition Center. This 7,500 square foot "green" facility is equipped with giant walk-in coolers, oversized cupboards, classroom space, and a laboratory. Come and learn the importance of animal nutrition research and management and see what it takes to keep our Zoo animals healthy and fit. We will stop by various animal exhibits along the way to see what's on their menu. WILDCARE CONSERVATION PROGRAMSThese adult programs focus on global wildlife conservation issues and efforts supported by the Saint Louis Zoo's WildCare Institute. Format varies with either a lecture/classroom presentation and may include a Zoo tour. Sri Lanka Elephant Project Lecture with Ravi CoreaRavi Corea, founder of the Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Society, began his love affair with animals as a child. Now, his projects range from elephant observation to finding innovative solutions to human - elephant conflict and researching the effects of the tsunamis on the natural world. Grevy Zebra Conservation Center ProgramThe Zoo's Conservation Center in the Horn of Africa has been very active in recent years. Antelope keepers have traveled to northern Kenya to work with the Samburu people on projects to conserve the stately Grevy Zebra. Hear how the Zoo was involved in staving off an anthrax epidemic, studying the effect of lion predation on the Grevy Zebra, and working with local people to promote beneficial coexistence with wildlife. Their personal stories are sure to touch your heart.
