Fall Programs for Homeschoolers

Classes will include live animals, biofacts, and observation and investigation activities to help meet your child's science needs. Programs are held on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of each month from 2 - 3:30 p.m. Classes meet in the lower level of The Living World building. For more information, call (314) 646-4544.

Advance registration is required. Please complete the fall registration form (see sidebar at right). Participants must register at least two weeks before the class date.

Students in Grades K – 2

Surviving the Seasons

Discover changes that animals make in order to survive the four seasons. Find out which animals are most active during this time of the year.

Arthropods for Amateurs

Are all creepy crawlies alike? Through sorting, investigating, and observing live animals, students will learn the basic characteristics of insects and how they are adapted to survive.

Introduction to Animal Adaptations

Learn how animals' physical and behavioral characteristics help them survive. We will explore adaptations for acquiring food, escaping predators, conserving energy and more.

Invisible World

See the fascinating wonders of the everyday world not seen by the naked eye. Using dissecting microscopes, students can discover how scientists use microscopes while investigating animal adaptations and lifestyles.

Did you know there are more insects on Earth than any other group of animals? Study the fascinating world of insects through discussions and demonstrations with live and mounted insects.

Herps and Ecology

Introduction to Animal Behavior: Part I

Animal behavior is the scientific study of everything that animals do. Learn the basics of animal behavior, various sampling methods, and information about the specific behavior studies going on at the Zoo.
