Students entering grade 9 may also register for Adult Programs.

Conversations about Conservation

These adult lecture programs focus on wildlife conservation issues and efforts that the Saint Louis Zoo supports throughout the world. Reservations are not required for lectures and walk-ins are welcome, space permitting. To reserve a seat, call (314) 646-4544. The lectures are at 7:30 p.m. in The Living World.

Amphibian Alert
Tuesday, April 22, 2008
Join Mark Wanner, Zoological Manager of Amphibians, Aquatics and Reptiles, for this kickoff program for The Year of the Frog. Frogs, toads and salamanders are indicator species and amphibian decline worldwide is occurring at an unprecedented rate. As a result, amphibians have become a conservation priority for Zoos and conservation organizations. Mark will discuss the latest efforts of our Zoo and the scientific communities here in Missouri and around the world to address this crisis.

Science Seminars

FREE and open to the general public! St. Louis scientists present timely topics and/or recent "discoveries." No reservations required. Seminars offered on Wednesday evenings in The Living World. Call (314) 768-5408 for more information.

River's Edge Tour
Catch the latest scoop on our elephants with Gondal, the Asian Ranger who oversees our herd. Enjoy some amazing stories about these mammoth creatures, including how we have prepared for new births sired by Raja. The tour will also include rhino, hippo, cheetah and other animal exhibits in River's Edge.

Training Zoo Animals
You CAN teach an old elephant new tricks! Come learn how Zoo animal training benefits the animals and the public's experience with our supervisor of animal training, Kyle Ulmer. Training techniques and how they are applied will be presented at the Sea Lion Arena along with information about our elephant training program.

A Naturalist’s Quest
Join in on a spring foray to southern Illinois. This trip includes exploring natural areas such as Fountain Bluff, Giant City, LaRue Swamp, and Cypress Creek National Wildlife Refuge. Enjoy wildflower and geological hikes, nature photography opportunities, birding and much more. Registration fee includes double occupancy dorm-style room (single supplement $25 additional), 3 meals and transportation.

Evening At the Zoo
Have you ever wondered what the animals do after hours? We will start by meeting some Zoo animals up-close. Then we're off for an evening tour around the outdoor animal areas to see "what's up".

Attention parents!
Do you feel the need to "reconnect" with nature? Are your children becoming strangers to wildlife? In today's busy society, it is easy for us and especially for our children to become removed from the natural world. Discover how to get your family "hooked on nature". This two hour workshop will provide you with resources, games and activities to help you foster a love of nature for you and your family.
