(Children must be accompanied by an adult. Fees are listed PER CHILD).

These programs are designed for you and your child to explore the animal world together. Programs include active learning through crafts, songs, stories, role playing, interactions with live animals and more.

For Children Ages 18 - 36 Months

STROLLER SAFARI SERIES
You and your child will experience a live animal encounter and then take a guided stroll throughout the Zoo. Come on a learning adventure as we visit our wonderful animal exhibits and meet a few interesting characters along the way. Don't forget your stroller! Sign up for an individual class or for the entire four class series!

NOTE: Due to the need for one-to-one interaction between parent(s) and participants throughout this program, younger and older siblings outside the 18-36 month age range cannot be accommodated.

Animal Opposites
Animals come in all different shapes and sizes, from the tiny cricket to the enormous elephant. Take a safari through the Zoo looking for animal opposites. Up and down, left and right, we'll discover all the differences the wild has to offer.

Safari Surround Sound
Hoot, growl, quack, and hiss. Animals seem to have a lot to talk about. Let's stroll through the Zoo and see if we can talk like the animals. We will listen and learn the sounds all around us.

Waddling, Wiggly Wildlife
Let's see what kind of moves the animals can teach us. We can waddle, flap, hop, and jump our way through the Zoo to find out how animals get around. Get ready to wiggle like the wildlife!

Discovering Colorful Critters
There is a rainbow of color here at the Zoo, and we want to discover it with you! Let's go on a scavenger hunt to find our most colorful critters. We'll use our eyes to explore the colors animals use to hide or stand out.

Animal Family Fun
Join in on the fun as we experience first hand what super seahorse dads & unusual alligator moms do with their young.

TOTES FOR TOTS SERIES
Come learn about animal bodies! Each program includes a classroom portion with educational "circle time," a story and an animal guest. We will then put on our tote bags, filled with fun items to explore, and go on an adventure on Zoo grounds. At the end of class, when you turn in your tote bag back, you'll receive a stamp! Sign up for an individual class or for the entire five class series!

NOTE: Due to the need for one-on-one interaction between parent(s) and participants throughout this program, younger and older siblings outside of the 2-3 age range cannot be accommodated.

Tale of a Tail
Join us as we explore animals and their tails. We'll look at tails that are long, short, fluffy, scaly and feathery.

Join us as we sniff out what makes a nose a nose! We'll also learn about what our animal friends do with their whiskers.

Make sure you step lively to join this class all about animal feet! We'll explore furry and scaly feet and discuss how animals use their feet.

Big or small? On the front or the side? Where are the animals' eyes? We'll explore how animals see the world.

Dive into the amazing world of South American animals, just like your favorite animal adventurer. Meet chinchillas, armadillos and more, up close and personal while learning how you can help animals too.

Counting Critters
Practice your number skills while learning about amazing animal friends like giant millipedes and slithering snakes. Play the "monkey munch" game and make a cool critter counter to take home.

Do you LOVE animals? Join the Funny Valentine and fellow animal lovers to create special greetings and treats for Zoo animals and their wild backyard cousins. Then watch as keepers deliver your valentines to your Zoo animal friends.

Outdoor Explorations: Field Experience at Valley View Glade in Hillsboro, MO
Get comfortable discovering the wonders of nature with your young children, as we uncover how to encourage their natural curiosity to explore the great outdoors. We'll peek under rocks; search the soil and splash in the water as we investigate the plant and animal life in Valley View Glade. Participants meet at the site in Hillsboro, MO.
