These programs require the participation of at least one parent or other adult for every one to two registered children. These programs are designed for caregivers to interact with, and help facilitate the learning of the registered program participant. In order to best serve all of our Early Childhood participants, unregistered children may not participate in the programs. The fees for these programs are per child. There is no charge for the accompanying adult. Please list the accompanying adult on the registration form.

Adventures in Zookeeping

For children ages 5 - 6, accompanied by an adult

Come explore the wide variety of animal careers necessary to run the Zoo. We will test our poop-scooping and snake-hooking abilities, learn some amazing vet skills, and create real treats to enrich the lives of animals. You will even design your very own Zoo.

Amazing Apes

Swing into the wild world of apes as we learn about Ginger and her orangutan family, our chimpanzee troop, bachelor gorilla group and all their wild relatives.

Dig into Dinosaurs

For children ages 5 - 6, accompanied by an adult

As junior paleontologists, we’ll examine fossils, arrange skeletons, and of course dig to uncover animal mysteries. We will explore what scientists have discovered about these prehistoric giants and meet some of their distant relatives. We will also create our own costumes to experience life as a dinosaur.

Fabulous Furry Friends

For children ages 5 - 6, accompanied by an adult

Do you like furry animals?  Here at the Zoo, we have lots of very hairy animals called mammals.  Come learn about some of the coolest, warm-blooded animals around.   Each participant will create a mammal track art piece to take home.

Wiggly Worms and Roly Polys

For children ages 5 - 6, accompanied by an adult

Why are “bugs” hard on the outside and squishy on the inside?  We will visit the Monsanto Insectarium to see our wonderful collection of insects and their friends. Custom-design your own pair of wings, and morph into a beautiful butterfly!
