Children Born 09/01/06 - 05/31/08

These programs require the participation of at least one parent or other adult for every one to two registered children. These programs are designed for caregivers to interact with, and help facilitate the learning of the registered program participant. In order to best serve all or our Young Children participants, unregistered children may not participate in the programs. The fees for these programs are per child. There is no charge for the accompanying adult. Please list the accompanying adult on the registration form.

Dig into Dinosaurs

For children with birth dates 9/01/06 - 5/31/08 accompanied by an adult

As junior paleontologists, we’ll examine fossils, arrange skeletons and of course dig to uncover animal mysteries. We will explore what scientists have discovered about these prehistoric giants and meet some of their distant relatives. We will also create our own costumes to experience life as a dinosaur.

Fantastic Furballs

For children with birth dates 9/01/06 – 5/31/08 accompanied by an adult

Do you like furry animals? Here at the Zoo we have lots of very hairy animals called mammals. Come learn about some of the coolest mammals from right here in North America. We will visit some of these fabulous fuzzy creatures around the Zoo. Each participant will create a mammal track cast to take home.

Marvelous Marine Mammals (Evening Program)

For children with birth dates 9/01/06 - 5/31/08 accompanied by an adult

You’ve seen a few of them swimming above you in the Sea Lion Sound tunnel, now come learn all about them! We’ll explore the different types of marine mammals that live around the world, including sea lions, dolphins and polar bears. You’ll dive into their amazing adaptations and see how we compare to these mammals with a variety of hands-on activities. The class will also include a private evening visit to Sea Lion Sound.

Nocturnal Neighbors (Evening Program)

Ever wonder what goes on in your yard at night? Learn how bats, owls and other nocturnal animals are adapted to life at night and ways to observe them in your own back yard. Receive a kit to build your very own bat house at home!

Super Hero Science (Evening Program)

For children with birth dates 9/01/06 – 5/31/08 accompanied by an adult

Discover who else can leap tall buildings in a single bound, has super senses and can transform to protect themselves. Bring your favorite super hero action figure and we’ll explore which animals have similar adaptations to help them survive. We will create our own animal super hero and conduct exciting experiments to learn more about these cool creatures and their amazing adaptations.
