Animal Scene Investigation

For students entering 5th - 8th

Come and discover how scientists study what animals leave behind to learn more about them. Scientists use bones, teeth, tracks, insects and scat to investigate animal mysteries. In this class, you will be the scientist. Learn to recognize factors necessary to estimate an organism’s time of death. We will apply our problem solving skills to solve an on-grounds mystery.

Do you have a flair for painting, drawing, or sketching? Join us for Artsy Animals class where we will discuss how animals and nature inspire us. Each student will create several pieces of art to take home. Besides making animal-inspired art, participants will also learn how some of our animals make their own art!

Come discover how you can help to conserve wildlife in your own neighborhood! We will explore different ways to assist conservation efforts by crafting homes for native species, using recycled materials in crafts, and learning how the zoo uses recycled materials for conservation with zoo animals.

Powerful Predators (NEW)

Although the live by the death of other animals, predators play an important role in the ecosystem.  In this class, we will look at unique hunting adaptation these predators use, as well as discover the value of predators.  We will also tour selected areas of the Zoo to see some of our meat-eaters and learn how we care for them
