Youth attend these programs on their own, unaccompanied by a parent or other adult.

Predator Impact

Although they live by the death of other animals, predators play an important role in any ecosystem. In this class, we will discover the value of predators as we learn about their unique hunting adaptations. We will also tour selected areas of the Zoo to see some of these meat-eaters up close.

Field Herpetology

Meet at the Zoo, and then spend the day with us exploring the Shaw Nature Reserve in search of amphibians and reptiles. We’ll learn the best places to find them and how to observe them once we do. This program is part of the Wildlife Adventure Series. Note: Transportation will be provided. Bring your lunch and a beverage.

Talking Bones

Do you have any skeletons in your closet? Well, we do – hundreds of them – and we want to share them with you. The bones of animals can tell us how they moved, what they ate, and how big they were. Come dig around in our bone collection and see what you may discover.

Nature Journaling

How do naturalists capture what they see and hear in nature? In this class you will stretch your creative muscles and mindfully attend to the natural world around you, recording what you find to produce a naturalist's work of art. Each participant will receive a journal.
