The Zoo’s Education Department offers tours seven days a week from September through May, unless otherwise noted. Tours are offered at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. All tours are conducted by docents (trained education volunteers) and require about 45 to 75 minutes, including walking time from The Living World. In case of severe weather or special animal management situations, tours may visit alternate areas of the Zoo appropriate to the topic chosen. Groups meet on the lower level of The Living World. Please Note: A minimum of one adult chaperone per eight students is required for all tours. To save time, please divide your students into tour groups before you arrive at the Zoo. Our tours have been grouped into major themes to help teachers choose appropriate programs to fit school curriculum or classroom units. Each theme has offerings at different grade levels, beginning with general introduction of concepts and moving toward more specific topics and concepts of increasing complexity. Themes: - Adaptations
- Classification/Animals
- Conservation
- Ecology
