The Education Department offers many opportunities for scouts and other organized youth groups to enjoy the Zoo and learn about the animal world. Programs range from a 45-minute classroom program to a sleep-over at the Zoo, and may include live animals, biofacts, activities, games, tours, or crafts. Plus, we offer a variety of programs that help scouts work towards their badge requirements!
Your group will have fun together while learning about animals, their habitats and conserving natural resources.
Please click on the links above to find out about our offerings. Also be sure to check out our fun Educational Tours. In addition, exploration guides are activity pages that lead your group on a self-guided tour of the Zoo to discover more about specific topics. And for useful information on parking, food and other services that will help make your Zoo visit more enjoyable, see What to Know Before You Go.
Attention Teachers and Group Leaders!
Schools and groups are now required to register before visiting the Zoo. Please take a moment to let us know when you are coming, by completing the school/group registration form. When you arrive at the Zoo, please check in at one of the Welcome Desks located at both Zoo entrances. Whether you are scheduled for an educational program or tour, or just planning to tour the Zoo on your own, completing this information provides us with the necessary information to better serve your group, particularly in the event of an emergency. Please call the Education Department at (314) 646-4544 for more information about registering your group.
Please note: the school / group registration form is required only for group tracking purposes. To order group tickets and meals, please contact the Group Sales office at (314) 646-4718 or email@example.com at least two weeks prior to your visit.
Do You Have a Mixed Age Group of Scouts?
If you have a scout troop/pack/den that has multiple age levels and our Snooze at the Zoo programs do not match your needs, you can schedule your own private scout overnight. When you schedule your own overnight we use the themes which we are currently offering but tailor them to match your needs. These overnights cost $40 per person and we require a minimum of 30 participants (this total includes scouts and adults) and a maximum of 60 participants.
Please contact Bridget Ebert, Overnight Programs Coordinator at (314) 646-4614 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
