Summer Snooze at the Zoo

Webelos can spend a night at the Saint Louis Zoo, sleep outside under the stars and learn about local wildlife! Snooze at the Zoo
Webelos: Zooper Zoos

Have you ever wondered how Zookeepers take care of the animals? Do you think the Zoo helps animals in the wild? Would you like to help the animals of the Saint Louis Zoo and animals like them in the wild, but don’t know what to do? Come to Snooze at the Zoo and discover the answers to these questions plus sleep at the Zoo! Scouts and adult leaders will simulate keeper duties in a keeper care relay, participants will try diagnosing animals when they become a Snooze veterinarian, put on some Safari gear and try your hand at simulated field research!

Overnight evening activities will include a live animal encounter, rotations through exciting activities, an evening pizza snack (with a soft drink), and a night hike around Zoo grounds, which includes a flashlight tour of the Herpetarium. The morning portion of the overnight adventure includes a continental breakfast, a morning stroll around Zoo grounds to see the animals wake-up, a souvenir Zoo patch and glow-in-the-dark overnight cup!

Who can attend: Webelos and their adult chaperones.

Do You Have a Mixed Age Group of Scouts?

If you have a scout troop/pack/den that has multiple age levels and our Snooze at the Zoo programs do not match your needs, you can schedule your own private scout overnight. When you schedule your own overnight we use the themes which we are currently offering but tailor them to match your needs. These overnights cost $35 per person and we require a minimum of 30 participants (this total includes scouts and adults) and a maximum of 60 participants.

Please contact Bridget Ebert, Overnight Programs Coordinator at (314) 646-4614 or for more information.

The Zoo's Education Department offers tours seven days a week from September through May, unless otherwise noted. Tours are offered at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

See Educational Tours for details and registration information.
