The wildlife of Australia is some of the most unique and exotic on the planet. You're in for a special wildlife experience on this two-week trip through Down Under. The journey begins in Melbourne, where we will visit several animal reserves to view more than 200 species of native birds, reptiles, and mammals. On Phillip Island, we'll encounter koalas and wallabies, as well as a large colony of penguins.
Tasmania is our next stop. Here we'll be introduced to this island's unique fauna, and will become acquainted with the fascinating local history. Special arrangements have been made for a stay on Bruny Island, where we will have the opportunity to view not only the diurnal animals, but nocturnal wildlife too. There are several species that are endemic to Tasmania, and our leaders will work hard to make certain we see them all!
Back in Melbourne, we'll follow the Great Ocean Road on our way to Adelaide, with a special dinner awaiting us at the Adelaide Zoo. From there, we'll fly to Kangaroo Island -- a famous wildlife haven.
Our adventure ends in beautiful Sydney, where we'll enjoy an Australian "walkabout" at the fabulous Taronga Zoo, then finish our Down Under adventure with an excellent farewell dinner.
Our guide for this 14-day adventure will be Edward McAlister, CEO of the Royal Zoological Society of South Australia and current president of the World Association of Zoos and Aquaria. Ed has worked with our tour operator to make this a very special wildlife experience.
