This once-in-a-lifetime safari is for the more discerning traveler who has a desire to get away to unspoiled wilderness areas, away from other tourists. This will also be a wonderful way to learn about Africa, and to return home with a heightened awareness of wildlife behavior and interactions.

Anthony Cheffings, the son of Marlin Perkins’ personal safari guide, is a delightful person who will make this an unforgettable experience for all ages.

We begin in Nairobi with visits to the Giraffe Center and to the home of Karen Blixen, the famed author who wrote under the pseudonym Isak Dinesen (remember Out of Africa?). Then it's off to the Shaba Game Reserve for three nights at our private campsite, with subsequent stops at the Aberdare Mountains, Lake Nakuru, and Lake Naivasha. Our last stop is the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve, for four nights of private, elegant camping.

The daily routine is focused around wildlife viewing. We take a morning game drive to find the animals when they are most active. A late afternoon game drive keeps us out until dusk. Vehicles are customed-designed four-wheel-drive, seating a maximum of five passengers. A professional guide escorts each vehicle.

Private camping will afford us the freedom to take short walks, if desired, and to have meals at any time of day. We will also have the chance to interact with local people, such as the Maasai from nearby villages.

Join us for a trip you will never forget!

Escorted by Dr. Eric Miller, Director of the Zoo's WildCare Institute.
