What a glorious season to experience one of America's natural treasures! This special expedition begins and ends in Jackson Hole, Wyoming -- a great place to both enjoy the majesty of the Teton Mountains and to savor springtime in one of our favorite places, Yellowstone Park. Upon arrival in Jackson, we transfer to the Snow King Resort. Members of the Teton Science School will guide us during an evening and day session, focusing on the natural history and wildlife of the Grand Tetons. Then we travel to Yellowstone Park, spending one night at Yellowstone Lake. Then it's on to Mammoth Hot Springs and the Lamar Valley for three days of viewing wildlife and learning about the local ecology. We'll pay special attention to the bears, wolves, ungulates and birds that will be returning to Yellowstone for the summer. (Spring, by the way, is the best time to catch a glimpse of the new generation of mammals that live in the park -- though don't be surprised if you see snow!) Our last stopover will be two nights' stay at Old Faithful, to focus on its famed geothermal events as well as wildlife that congregates here. As in our previous trips to Yellowstone, we will be lucky enough to have as our guide Dr. Jim Halfpenny, naturalist and carnivore ecologist. Limited to 18 participants. Escorted by Jim Jordan, Curator of Education.
