Alpaca Field Trip

The Children’s Zoo alpacas, Andrus and Freeman, take regular walks around the Saint Louis Zoo with their keepers. Recently, they took a stroll over to Jungle of the Apes and encountered Sumatran orangutans, chimpanzees, and western lowland gorillas. #BringTheStlZooToYou stlzoo.org/blog

Thomas is Ready!

#KeeperPerspective Here is Thomas all ready for his afternoon walk with his friend, Bogo. Our sheep are harnessed trained and enjoy walking around the Zoo for exercise. ICYMI: Here is a video of Thomas and Bogo on one of their walks. https://youtu.be/G0ax8HqXu8w   #BringTheStlZooToYou

Penguins & Bubbles

Enrichment is a big part of our animals’ days at the Zoo, and our keepers want to ensure that their environment provides a stimulating life. Enrichment can come in many forms: altering the animal's physical environment, modifying animal care, creating social groupings and increasing sensory stimulation. In this video, you can see our sub-antarctic birds playing with bubbles. While they probably wouldn’t have bubbles in the wild, they would see and experience new things that would catch their attention. Visitors have witnessed these special bubble parties live in the habitat and on our live web cam! #BringTheStlZooToYou
