June 05, 2020

In honor of World Oceans Day on Monday, June 8, we treated our seals and sea lions to some fishy birthday treats! Did you know it's estimated that 90 percent of all sea lions are born in the month of June?! What's even cooler is that 50 percent are born on June 15th! Three of our sea lions (Roby, Rosie, and Nipper) share this special day!

Happy belated birthday to Mandy, Doris, Gabby, and Mia, and happy early birthday to Boulder, Roby, Rosie, Nipper, Lou, Nikki, Dixi and Nuna! Nuna will be celebrating a milestone birthday soon — she will be turning 21 years old next month!

We'd love to see your birthday wishes for our SEALebration! Visit and print off this sea lion cut-out, decorate it and write a birthday wish.  Display it in your home or out your window and share it with us in the comments.

We look forward to "Sea"ing you soon! Be sure to wish all of our flippered friends a happy birthday the next time you stop by Judy and Jerry Kent Family Sea Lion Sound!

As we look to the return of visitors, the Saint Louis Zoo and Mid America Chevy Dealers want you to share your favorite memories from a past Zoo visit!
Thank you Melissa Green for sharing your #StlZooMemory

Dance Party

#KeeperPerspective What gets you going in the morning? Coffee? A donut? The sarus cranes love a mouse for breakfast, followed by a dance party. Sarus cranes, which are the world’s tallest flighted birds, form long-term monogamous relationships and the “dancing” courtship behavior reinforces their bonds. Our sarus cranes have been together since 2016. #BringTheStlZooToYou
