2022 Summer Camp Announcement!   

Here is what you can look forward to:

  • Camp Joey ( children age 4-entering kindergarten) – Five-day, half-day morning sessions, full-day sessions or mini-week offered June 6 – August 5
  • Camp KangaZoo (children entering 1st-6th grades) – Four-day, full-day sessions plus evening activity offered June 13 – August 11

  • Teen Camp (children entering 7th-9th grades) - Four-day, full-day sessions plus overnight offered June 27 - July 29
  • Specialty Camps (children entering 3rd-12th grades) – Four-day, full-day sessions offered various week
  • KangaCare - Before and/or after care for Camp KangaZoo, Teen Camp and Specialty Camp (no before care for Specialty Camp) participants offered June 13 - August 11

Financial Scholarships will be available for all Zoo Summer Camps! 

  • To prevent the spread of COVID-19, additional restrictions will be required for attending all in-person programs. See the sections on Covid-19 Guidelines for In-Person Programs, the Covid-19 Policy and the Covid-19 Terms and Conditions found on the COVID-19 Information page. 

    • Effective Monday, March 14, 2022, following City and CDC guidelines, the Zoo will no longer require indoor mask/facial coverings for most Conservation Education program participants, but still recommends participants wear them indoors. There shall be no discrimination or disrespectful treatment toward individuals who continue to wear masks or facial coverings (or discrimination or disrespectful treatment toward individuals who choose not to wear masks or facial coverings). 
    • Children attending the Zoo Preschool and Preschool teachers will continue to wear masks, other than while sleeping and eating, throughout the remainder of the school year. 
    • For any Conservation Education Program that includes visits to indoor behind-the-scenes areas masks and facial coverings are still required for all participants, staff and volunteers. 
    • Participants attending multi-day programs will be required to complete a daily screening form. 
    • If a program session is cancelled due to COVID-19 related issues, we will offer a virtual program if applicable, or issue a full refund. We will communicate any changes based on Zoo policy as we get closer to your program date.

It’s time to hop out of the pouch and into the Zoo at Camp Joey! Our days will be filled with animal antics, habitat ventures and Zoo fun as we experience and appreciate the animal world together.

Camp KangaZoo

For students entering 1st - 6th grades

Explore the Zoo with caring counselors and new friends, meet the animals and learn amazing things at Camp KangaZoo!

Teen Camp

For students entering 7th - 9th grades

Too old for Camp? Then you’re ready for Teen Camp, an awesome summer adventure for teens!

Specialty Camps

For students entering 3rd - 12th grades

These camps dive a little bit deeper into certain topics, but like Camp KangaZoo, you will enjoy an amazing array of opportunities. 

 The Saint Louis Zoo is proud to partner with Blueprint4Summer.

  • Thanks to generous gifts from donors such as AFB International, the Kwame Family Foundation, the Nancy Galvin Education Scholarship Fund, Anna and James McKelvey, and Post Holdings, the Saint Louis Zoo is pleased to announce scholarship opportunities for our educational summer camp programs.

    Who is eligible for a financial scholarship? Scholarships are awarded to children/families based on an application and recommendation form that shows:

    • The child has a strong interest in learning more about animals and the Zoo, and is the correct age/grade level for the camp program for which they apply.  Different camps are available for children age 4 through High School age.
    • The ability to get to and from the Zoo for Camp each day. Transportation is not provided by the Zoo.
    • The family needs financial assistance to attend.  

    To apply (Applications and recommendations are still being accepted and scholarships awarded on an on-going basis.)

    1. Print out and complete the application form.  Mail completed form to the address on the form OR drop off completed form at the Education Department, lower level of the North Entrance building, Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.  A Zoo reservation is not required to drop off forms.

    2. Mail or email the recommendation form to someone not related to you, who knows your child and your family’s financial need, for them to complete and submit via email, mail or drop-off.
