Virtual Programs

These virtual evening programs are for families with children ages 5 and up. Children and adults attend these programs TOGETHER using a personal electronic device (laptop, tablet, etc.).  The fees for this program are per registered household family. 

  • Creatures of the Night Virtual Snooze 

    For families with participants ages 5 and up; one adult and one child minimum  

    What goes on when the sun goes down? Or better yet, who comes out? Join our Zoo educators for a fun and interactive Zoom webinar to explore the awesome world of nocturnal animals. We will learn about their unique adaptations and even test them against our own abilities. This program will also let us see some of our Zoo’s nocturnal animals on a virtual tour after the Zoo closes to explore what they do at night. Join us and find out about the amazing creatures of the night!  

    Limited to 100 families per session. Fees are PER REGISTERED FAMILY

In-Person Programs

All in-person programs will adhere to the following guidelines to ensure the safety of our staff and all participants:   

  • Reduced number of participants per program session 
  • All participants must adhere to mask wearing protocols and practice social distancing during the entire program.  
  • To prevent the spread of COVID-19, additional restrictions will be required for attending all in-person programs. See the sections on Covid-19 Guidelines for In-Person Programs, the Covid-19 Policy and the Covid-19 Terms and Conditions found on the Program Registration page. 
  • Unregistered participants cannot be accommodated.

Adults and children attend these programs TOGETHER. The fees for these programs are per registered participant.

    Join us as we get outdoors at the Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Park and explore the hidden world that lies under the surface of freshwater ponds! Participants will get hands-on experience using science tools to discover and learn about the creatures that hop, crawl, and swim through the water.  Program participants meet at WildCare Park.

    Come explore with us at the Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Park as we search the skies, ground, and trees for birds of all shapes and sizes. Learn how to become a bird watcher by developing your skills at spotting birds through binoculars, using field guides to identify different types of birds, and listening closely for the bird sounds around you. Your bird-watching journey begins here!  Program participants meet at WildCare Park.

    Join us at the Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Park as we get up close and personal with flowers, bushes and shrubs and the animals that depend on them! In this program you’ll become botanists – plant scientists – and learn the basics of plant identification, the importance of native plants to habitat biodiversity, and how you can help to restore native plant habitats. Each family will receive a pack of native seeds for planting.  Program participants meet at WildCare Park.

    Join us behind the scenes at Stingrays at Caribbean Cove!  Learn about stingrays and sharks and be the first to meet them for the day!  We will show you how to touch the sharks, and you can feed the stingrays yourself.  You will have an opportunity to walk through the support tent with a keeper who will discuss the incredible equipment and marine expertise required to take care of our marine animals.  This program will end with a stingray keeper discussion during a tasty and socially distanced breakfast provided at Lakeside Café.

    Channel your inner scientist as we explore the native habitats at the Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Park! We will spend time in nature investigating the world around us through games and science experiments. Each participant will receive their own science kit to help them explore during the program and at home.  What will we discover together?  Program participants meet at WildCare Park.

  • For families and organized groups with participants ages 5 and up. Fees listed are per group with an additional cost for extra participants.  

    Ever wonder what the Zoo is like after dark? Gather some family and friends and join us for this amazing opportunity to explore the Zoo at night! A Zoo educator will be the guide for your family to learn more about the animals. Groups of over 12 participants are encouraged to split into two groups for a more personalized experience.

    Fee: $300 for your group of up to 9 family members or friends, a registered adult must accompany the group. $30 per each additional participant up to a maximum of 20 family members or friends.

    Tour Length: 90 minutes.

  • For families with participants ages 5 and up. Fees listed are per group.

    This program offers a unique experience for your family to join in on a conservation research project. You will meet a field biologist and assist them with radio tracking wild box turtles living in Forest Park. Your family will learn how to use a radio antenna to locate the turtle, assist in conducting an observational health exam and record other data needed for this study. Close-toed shoes and long pants are required. Participants meet at a designated area in Forest Park. 

    Program length is 90 minutes and offered May through October
    Limited to 8 participants in the same family group, ages 5 and up. A minimum of one adult must accompany the group.
    Fee per family group: Zoo Members $100/General Public $120

    Make your Zoo visit even more memorable with a Safari Walking Tour! Tag along with our professional interpretive guides as they offer insight to the animal world with engaging stories, interesting facts and animal observations. All participants must wear a face mask and follow social distancing guidelines. See the Terms and Conditions Section under the registration information for more details. Please note: this tour does not include touching live animals or access to non-public areas.

    Walk on the Wild Side Safari

    Join our guide as you trek through the wilderness, passing through Centene Grizzly Ridge, McDonnell Polar Bear Point and Donn & Marilyn Lipton Fragile Forest. Discover the simple things you can do to help save animals!

    Tour Length: 60 minutes
