In-Person Programs

All in-person programs will adhere to the following guidelines to ensure the safety of our staff and all participants:    

  • Reduced number of participants per program session 
  • All participants must adhere to mask wearing protocols and practice social distancing during the entire program.  
  • To prevent the spread of COVID-19, additional restrictions will be required for attending all in-person programs. See the sections on Covid-19 Guidelines for In-Person Programs, the Covid-19 Policy and the Covid-19 Terms and Conditions found on the Program Registration page. 
  • Unregistered participants cannot be accommodated.

    Marvelous Marine Mammals 

    We’ll explore the different types of marine mammals that live around the world, including sea lions, dolphins and polar bears. Discover their amazing adaptations and see how we compare to these mammals with a variety of hands-on activities. The class will also include a private evening visit to Sea Lion Sound.

    Come explore the great outdoors with us at the Zoo’s new property in North County! We will spend time creating nature art, building forts, investigating native habitats and getting messy!   Participants meet at WildCare Park.

    Nocturnal Neighbors (WildCare Park)

    Ever wonder what goes on outside at night?  Learn how bats, owls and other nocturnal animals are adapted to life at night and ways to observe them in your own backyard.  Receive a kit to build your very own bat house at home!  Participants meet at WildCare Park.

    Big Cat Bonanza

    Evening Invertebrate Investigations

    Explore the Missouri Meadow and other areas of the Zoo to find and learn about our amazing native invertebrates. Learn how to safely observe them, attract them to your own backyard and be a community scientist! You'll even get a plant to take home to the pollinators at your house!

Virtual Programs

Our virtual class offerings include interactive role playing, songs, dances, games, hands-on exploration, and art opportunities, as well as exclusive Zoo footage and resources. Additional information including the website link and the program material list will be provided in advance of the program start date.   

NOTE: These programs are designed for caregivers and children to attend together using a personal electronic device (laptop, tablet, etc.). This helps facilitate the learning of the registered program participant.   Fees listed are PER CHILD.
