These programs are intended for ages 3 years old to 2nd grade. If you would like to add a 15 minute "meet and greet" animal opportunity for 2 year old's, please call for more information.

Active Animals

Grades: PS-2nd
Program Length: 30 or 45 minutes
Audience size: minimum 10, maximum 30

Soar like an eagle! Stalk like a lion! In this class, students will learn all about how animals move and why. Children will meet live animals and play an interactive game where they learn about animal movement by moving like the animals themselves.

Backyard Adventures

Grades: PS-2nd
Program length: 45 minutes
Audience size: minimum 10, maximum 30

NOTE:  This program is ONLY available in a 45 minute format.

Students will use their imaginations to go on an adventure in a backyard. Together, we will discover animals, plants, and other backyard treasures without ever leaving the classroom. This class includes meeting some backyard animals and open exploration of a wormery!

Colorful Creatures

Grades PS-2nd
Program length: 30 or 45 minutes
Audience size: minimum 10, maximum 30

Learn how animals use their colors by following us on an adventure through a butterfly’s habitat. Students will create their own butterfly puppet for an interactive story and explore how the butterflies blend in or stand out in their environment to survive. Throughout the class they will meet live animal friends.

Critter Calls

Some animals make lots of sounds, but have you ever thought about why? In this program we will practice our animal sounds and explore station activities. We will also meet a few special Zoo friends and learn about why they may or may not use sounds to survive.

Dynamite Defenses

Grades: PS-2nd

Animals are always on the lookout for danger. They use their senses, body coverings, and behaviors to protect themselves. Whether showing their teeth and claws, oozing slime, hiding in their shells, or simply holding still to blend in, every animal has a way of keeping safe. This program includes live animals and an open-ended craft.

Habitat Engineering - New!

Grades: PS-2nd
Program length: 30 or 45 minutes
Audience size: minimum 10, maximum 30

Get excited about engineering and all the creative ways to build animal habitats! Students will consider the four needs all animals have (food, water, shelter, and space) and the specific needs of individual animals. This program includes live animals and a chance for students to build unique miniature habitats (students will not take habitats home, but teachers are welcome to take pictures to share with students and their families.)

Sensational Senses

Grades: PS-2nd

Explore different animal senses as participants feel feathers and fur, hear animal calls, and see so much more.  This class will include stations about senses and meeting live animals.

Surviving the Seasons

Grades: PS-2nd
Program Length: 30 or 45 minutes
Audience size: minimum 10, maximum 30

As the trees turn green and the ice melts away, we know that winter is over and summer is on its way. Discover changes that animals make in order to adapt to the four seasons. Find out which animals are most active now and learn about their adaptations to seasonal changes in weather. The focus of this class will depend on the current season.

Terrific Tails

Grades: PS-2nd

Audience size: minimum 10, maximum 30

Have you ever noticed how many animals have tails? Students will meet live animals and try on a tail that will transform with their imagination. We will bring the tails- you bring your imaginations!
