Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Fees are listed per child.

These programs require the participation of at least one parent or other adult for every one to two registered children.  These programs are designed for caregivers to interact with and help facilitate the learning of the registered program participant.  To best serve all of our Early Childhood participants, unregistered children may not participate in the programs. Please list the accompanying adult on the registration form.

  • Cubs and Pups

    For children ages 4 - 18 months, accompanied by an adult

    Enjoy your little one’s first Zoo program as we hear stories and sing songs about ways animals protect and play with their young.  Make a keepsake craft to take home.

  • Animal Antics

    For children ages 18 - 24 months, accompanied by an adult

    Create your own animal antics as we fly like eagles, hiss like snakes and hop like frogs. A few live animal friends will visit our class for you to see and touch.  We’ll learn some simple Zoo tunes and create a craft!

    Romp and Stomp

    Under the Sea

  • Animal Hide and Seek

    “Look closely.  Can you see me up in the tree?”  Discover the wonders of animal camouflage to learn how these “costumes” help them disguise.  Each participant will make their own camouflaged critter to take home.

    Be a Zoo Science Kid!

    For children ages 4 - 5, accompanied by an adult

    What’s hiding among the nooks and crannies of a rotten log?  Come find out as we learn how to use simple tools to explore the hidden marvels of the animal world.   Become a “Zoo Science Kid” as you investigate what animals need to survive in their habitats through hands-on activities, exploration and more.  Each participant will receive a journal for future exploration.

    Come learn about the polar, sun and grizzly bears that call the Saint Louis Zoo home. We’ll study their adaptations and behavior through hands-on activities, learn how the Zoo cares for these animals, and end our class with a trip to see some of them in their Zoo habitats.

    Marvelous Marine Mammals

    For children ages 5 - 7, accompanied by an adult

    You’ve seen a few of them swimming above you in the Sea Lion Sound tunnel. Now come learn all about them! We’ll explore the different types of marine mammals that live around the world, including sea lions, dolphins and polar bears.  You’ll dive into their amazing adaptations and see how we compare to these mammals with a variety of hands-on activities. The class will also include a private evening visit to Sea Lion Sound.

    Nocturnal Neighbors

    Ever wonder what goes on in your yard at night?  Learn how bats, owls and other nocturnal animals are adapted to life at night, and learn ways to observe them in your own backyard.  Receive your very own bat house to take home and help the bats in your own backyard!

    Superhero Science

    For children ages 5 - 7, accompanied by an adult

    Discover who else can leap tall buildings in a single bound, has super senses and can transform to protect themselves.  Bring your favorite superhero action figure, and we’ll explore which animals have similar adaptations to help them survive.  We will create our own animal superhero and conduct exciting experiments to learn more about these cool creatures and their amazing adaptations.
