The Zoo is your family's not-so-scary Halloween-celebration destination!

Boo at the Zoo is not a trick-or-treating event.

  • Be spellbound by fabulous decorations throughout the Zoo. Enjoy some returning decorations including Skeleton Soiree, Monster Mash, Pirate Pointe along with new decorations including Haunted Harvest, Coachman's Junction and a giant cauldron photo opportunity in Fragile Forest.
  • Check out Dinoroarus, the Conservation Carousel and “Chaos in Wonderland” at the 4D Theater, all included in event admission.
  • Say hello to the animals at Stingrays at Caribbean Cove (included in admission), the Herpetarium and Insectarium.
  • See strolling entertainers throughout the week as well as stage shows on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5:30 to 6 p.m. (included in admission).
  • Take a rollicking ride on the Zooline Railroad (extra fee).
  • Savor special fall-themed menu items, available for purchase.
  • Jump-start your holiday shopping with a visit to our open gift shops.

    High demand is expected and popular dates may sell out quickly. Check the ticket links above for current availability. Tickets may be purchased online the night of the event (based on ticket availability).

    Tickets (Ages 2+)

    Free for children under age 2.

    Tickets are valid only for that day and time noted. Tickets are not refundable or transferable (see Weather Conditions section below).

    Admission includes entrance to Boo at the Zoo, Dinoroarus, Stingrays at Caribbean Cove, Conservation Carousel and 4D Theater.


    Free Parking

    Park for free on the Zoo North Lot or South Lot during the event. See detailed directions.

    Groups of 15 or More

    Groups of 15 or more may receive a discount rate on tickets when purchased and paid for at least eight days prior to your visit date. Please contact or visit the Group Ticket Desk at (314)646-4781 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday-Friday to purchase group tickets.

  • Two admission time slots are available for each evening of Boo at the Zoo. You may choose between the following when purchasing your ticket online:

    • 5 to 6:30 p.m.
    • 6:30 to 8 p.m. (event ends at 8:30 p.m. Last admittance is at 8:15 p.m.)
    • It is highly recommended that guests arrive at their specified time slot, and they may stay as long as they wish, or until the event ends at 8:30 p.m.

    Tickets are valid only for date and time noted on the ticket. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

    Guests will have their reserved ticket scanned from their print-at-home ticket or scanned digitally from their smartphone. Both Zoo entrances are open.


  • Frequently Asked Questions

    What is the best way to make reservations? Buying tickets online is a better option as the Zoo is experiencing high call volumes. Tickets go on sale on September 21.

    What if I’m unable to purchase online?
     For those unable to access the Zoo’s website, please call (314) 646-4797 to speak with a representative. Lines are staffed daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

    Is there a help desk I can contact?
      For any issues related to online ticket purchases, please call (314) 646-4797 or email A Zoo representative will follow up with you as soon as possible.

    Are group tickets available? 
    Groups of 15 or more may receive a discount rate on tickets when purchased and paid for at least eight days prior to your visit date. Please contact the Group Ticket Desk at (314) 646-4781 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets are not available at the door and must be purchased in advance.

    What time does Boo at the Zoo open? The Zoo closes to the public at 4 p.m. daily (all pathways, restaurants, exhibits, and attractions will no longer be open.) Doors will re-open at 5 p.m. for the event. Zoo visitors who are planning to attend Boo at the Zoo will need to exit the Zoo and have their Boo at the Zoo tickets scanned for re-entry starting at 5 p.m. 

    Are strollers and wheelchairs available?
     The Zoo's wheelchair, stroller and ECV rental fees apply for this event.

    Weather Conditions & Cancellations

    Rain or wet weather may hinder some light displays from operating in wet conditions. We apologize for the inconvenience. 

    • In the event of a cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the Zoo will update its website and social media by 3 p.m. the day of the event.
      • *If you have tickets for a canceled event, you will receive a full refund on the credit or debit card used to purchase. The Zoo will do its best to issue refunds in a timely manner.
      • *At this time, we are not able to exchange tickets.
    • The Zoo's wheelchair, stroller and ECV rental fees apply for this event.
  • Our Zoo Values Safety 

    Our Zoo follows all directions by the Department of Health for the City of St. Louis, as well as guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Visit this page prior to your visit for updated information.

    Costume Policy

    The Zoo encourages guests to get in the holiday spirit while following the costume policy.

    • Family-friendly Halloween costumes are encouraged. Costume masks are not permitted. (Costume masks are defined as non-protective masks intended for decorative/costume-only use.)
    • No face paint that covers the entire face is permitted.
    • No scary costumes are permitted.
    • Costume appropriateness is up to the discretion of the Zoo.

Say howdy to the turtles, tortoises, frogs, toads, snakes and lizards at the Herpetarium — they're always ready for Halloween guests!

For a little more hocus-pocus, the creepy, crawling creatures at the Insectarium just can't wait to bug you.

Take a step back in time and walk among the giants at Dinoroarus in a glorious (or non-gory-ous), teeming with opportunities to snap a dino-themed selfie!

Spot the out-of-this-world creatures at Stingrays at Caribbean Cove.

Go 'round on the Conservation Carousel.

Enjoy the ludicrously spooky adventure of "Chaos in Wonderland" playing in our 4D Theater.

Tarantula Adoption

Tarantulas are among the largest spiders. The red-kneed tarantula is a docile spider that lives in the deserts and scrublands of Mexico.

Taste what's brewing at Lakeside Cafe, Safari Grill, Tundra Treats, Carousel Cafe, River Camp and Sweet & Salty Company. Locations are open until 8:30 p.m. Some locations subject to close based on availability.

Get pumped for some spooktacular entertainment! 

Stage Shows: Juggling Jeff will perform from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Sea Lion Arena. Entertainers will travel around the Zoo until 7 p.m. Oh My Gosh Josh will perform on October 14 at 5:30 p.m.

Roaming Entertainment: There will be a variety of jugglers, magicians, stilt walkers and more traveling around the Zoo from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.

Entertainment varies nightly. Shows do not include animals.

Free fall fun for everyone! As you enjoy the Zoo’s daily schedule, exhibits and attractions, check out the festive Halloween decorations around Zoo grounds. You may even see some animals savoring pumpkin treats!

Zoo members receive 20% off in open gift shops and take $10 off any new adoption package (with plush toy) for children ages 2-12 dressed in costume. Non-Zoo members will receive 10% off any purchase at Safari Gift Shop and Treetop Shop and $2 off the price of an Adventure Pass** for children ages 2 -12 in costume with on-site purchase.

**Adventure Passes are not usable at Boo at the Zoo.
