Vet Hospital

Have you ever wondered how the Zoo maintains such a diverse collection of animals and keeps them so healthy? How does someone treat a giraffe vs. a tiny frog? Many animals in our care are threatened with extinction or have very specific needs. Come take the opportunity to meet with our vet staff to learn more about the animals in their care and some of the very clever ways they treat some of the needs they require.

Minimum of 4 guests and maximum of 20.
Meeting times: May vary.
Offered Monday-Friday only.

Duration: ~45-60 minutes
Fee: $25 per person
Age Requirements: Ages 10 and up.

Nutrition Center

Healthy Animals, Healthy People is the motto of our Animal Nutrition Center and Institute for Conservation Medicine. Find out what it takes to provide healthy food for all of the animals here at the zoo, what kinds of food we feed, how we store it all and how we deliver it each and every day.

Our staff nutritionist researches and determines the nutritional needs of each animal and which foods would provide the most beneficial nutrients. The nutritionist also must work closely and collaborate with all of the Animal Division staff to make sure the animals are eating healthy.

Minimum of 4 guests and maximum of 20.
Offered Monday-Friday only.

Duration: 45 - 60 minutes
Fee: $25 per person
Age Requirements: Ages 10 and up.
