Parking

All-day parking is available on the Zoo's North Lot on Government Drive and South Lot on Wells Drive. Limited street parking is available in Forest Park.

Occasionally, Forest Park entrances and roads are closed due to events in the park. Please check ForestParkForver.org for the latest information and plan your trip accordingly.

  • During non-Zoo events in Forest Park throughout the year, charges will apply for parking on Zoo lots.
  • Only cash and charge are accepted for parking payment. No bills over $20 will be accepted. ATMs are available inside both entrances. 
  • During the winter months, the South Parking Lot will not be open if the temperature expected at 12 noon is below 50 degrees Monday – Thursday, and below 35 degrees on Friday-Sunday and holidays. (These are general guidelines and are subject to change, especially for special and private events and other weather conditions.)
  • Vehicles over 24 feet long are NOT permitted to park in our lots. Buses over 24 feet must obtain a permit to park in Forest Park. (See Bus/Commercial Vehicle Parking below)

  • Buses under 24 feet are allowed to park in our South Lot only. Limited spaces are available. 

    All other buses and commercial vehicles must obtain a permit to park in Forest Park. 

    To park a bus or commercial vehicle in Forest Park when visiting the Zoo, you must obtain a permit through the City of Saint Louis Department of Parks. You will also be assigned a designated lot by the Parks Department. The parking permit fee is $5 per bus or commercial vehicle. Parking permits are obtained by calling the Forest Park Permits Office at (314) 289-5330, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., or by completing an online applicationPlease request your permit at least two weeks before your scheduled field trip.

    Drivers will need to provide their name, name and address of school/organization, date of visit, and the number of buses arriving at the time of their request. Permits will be mailed. Any permits requested less than two weeks of the scheduled trip will need to be picked up at the permit office.

    Please note: Your parking permit must be prominently displayed on the windshield of your bus during the time the vehicle is parked in Forest Park or you risk getting ticketed.

  • There are nine entrances to Forest Park, including Hampton & Wells, Tamm Avenue bridge, Skinker & Wells, Skinker & Forsyth, Lindell at DeBaliviere, Lindell at Forest Park Parkway, Lindell at West Pine, Kingshighway at West Pine, Kingshighway at Oakland to Tamm.

  • Take the Hampton exit (34-B) and follow signs to Forest Park. At the first roundabout, turn left (west) on Wells Drive and arrive at the Zoo's South Entrance.

    To North Entrance, go straight through first roundabout, left at second roundabout on Washington Blvd., turn left on Government Drive.

    Westbound Alternate Route: Take Clayton Road exit, turn right on Skinker, right on Wells Drive. Veer left to Zoo's North Entrance. Veer right to South Entrance.

    Eastbound Alternate Route: Take McCausland exit, turn left on McCausland/Skinker, right on Wells Drive. Veer left to Zoo's North Entrance. Veer right to South Entrance.

  • Take the Hampton Ave. exit. Drive north about one mile and cross the Hampton Ave. bridge. At the first roundabout, turn left on Wells Drive and arrive at the Zoo's South Entrance.

    To North Entrance, go straight through first roundabout, left at second roundabout on Washington Blvd., turn left on Government Drive.

    Eastbound Alternate Route: Take Vandeventer Ave. exit and follow signs to Kingshighway north. Turn left onto Oakland Avenue. Drive west to the Tamm Avenue bridge, turn right over the bridge and arrive at the Zoo's South Entrance.

    Westbound Alternate Route: Take Vandeventer Ave/Kingshighway exit 287B-A and follow signs to Kingshighway north. Turn right on Kingshighway. Turn left onto Oakland Avenue. Drive west to the Tamm Avenue bridge, turn right over the bridge and arrive at the Zoo's South Entrance.

  • If you're coming from north or northwest, take I-70 or I-270 to I-170 south. Merge onto I-64/40 east. Take the Hampton exit (34-B) and follow signs to Forest Park. At the first roundabout, turn left (west) on Wells Drive and arrive at the Zoo's South Entrance. 

    Alternate Route: Exit I-170 at Forest Park Parkway and go east approx. 2 miles. Turn right on Skinker Boulevard. Turn left on Lagoon Drive into Forest Park. Veer right on Fine Arts Drive, past the Art Museum to Government Drive. Turn right to the Zoo's North Entrance.

  • The Metro Forest Park Trolley runs spring through fall giving individuals visiting Forest Park a convenient method of navigating the Park, in addition to helping alleviate Park congestion.

    The Metro Forest Park Trolley service line (MetroBus route #3) connects all park attractions. Both trolley routes begin at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Station.

    • The Blue Forest Park Trolley route (Blue – To Zoo) serves the western side of Forest Park, with stops at the World’s Fair Pavilion, Saint Louis Zoo, Saint Louis Art Museum and Emerson Grand Basin.
    • The Green Forest Park Trolley route (Green – To Science Center)
      serves the eastern side of Forest Park, with stops at the Jewel Box and the Saint Louis Science Center and Planetarium.
    •  Both trolley routes make stops at the Missouri History Museum, Dennis & Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center and The Muny/Boathouse. Riders can transfer between the Blue and Green routes at any of the aforementioned dual route stops.

    Trolley hours:

    • 9 a.m.-7 p.m. daily  May 1 through Monday, September 3, 2018
    • The Trolly runs every 15-30 minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes on the weekends. 

    • New in 2018 – Ride Free Sundays! On Sundays EVERYONE rides free.

    Fees:

    • Adults: $2
    • Children (5-12), seniors, disabled: $1
    • Kids 4 and under: Free 

    Fare is purchased on-board the Trolley. Exact change required (paper or coin). Each Trolley ticket allows unlimited on and off privileges for the day the fare is purchased. Tickets may also be purchased at the Forest Park Visitor Center in the Forest Perk Café.

    A valid Metro Reduced Fare Permit is required for the Senior and Disabled discount.

  • Ride MetroLink to Forest Park/DeBaliviere station, then take MetroBus route #90 Hampton south (or Forest Park Trolley). The bus and Trolley both stop within a short walking distance of the Zoo's North Entrance on Government Drive. 

    On Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays from 9am to 5pm
    The #90 Hampton will reroute around Forest Park. Service in Forest Park will be provided by the #3 Forest Park Trolley only. For detailed Metro transit schedules, pricing and to purchase tickets, visit the Metro web site.

  • The #90 Hampton MetroBus stops within a short walking distance from the Zoo's North Entrance on Government Drive.

    On Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays from 9am to 5pm  
    The #90 Hampton MetroBus will reroute around Forest Park. Service in Forest Park will only be provided by the #3 Forest Park Trolley. See Metro website for more details.
